2019 Fall Conference Registration Open!

We are pleased to announce that registration for the Ninth Annual ALBUG Fall Conference is open. The Fall Conference will be held November 13-15th at the Marriott Shoals Resort and Conference Center in Florence, Alabama.  More information on the conference is available on our website at albug.org/fall-conference.

You may access the conference registration site powered by 123Signup here.   Early registration deadline is October 12, 2019.  After this date, registration fees will increase.

Once registered for the conference, book your hotel accommodations directly through Marriott.  Attendees may call Marriott reservations directly at 1-800-593-6450 and mention group “ALBUG-Annual Conference 2019” or online through our dedicated webpage on Marriott’s site. Full details on room rates and reservation information can be found at albug.org/fall-conference.

Are you looking for extra training?  This year, we are offering several pre-conference workshops that will be held on Wednesday, November 13th.  The workshops that will be offered this year are:

  • Argos Pre-Conference Workshop (Full day. Both New User and Advanced/Technical User training)
  • Oracle SQL Basics (Half day)
  • Popsels for Financial Aid (Half day)
  • Dynamic Forms (Full Day. Vendor-led training and hands-on support for Dynamic Forms users)
  • Tips and Tricks for the Banner Newbie (Half day)
  • Other workshops may be announced later

There is a nominal charge of $45 for each full-day workshop and $35 for half-day workshops. Lunch will be provided to all attendees. Register for these pre-conference workshops through 123Signup here.

Make plans to join us for our eighth annual fall conference November 14-16, 2018 at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama.  The executive committee has a great lineup of sessions for this year’s conference.  Check out the current conference agenda on the ALBUG site.  Pricing and hotel information are also available on the ALBUG website at http://albug.org/fall-conference/.  Take advantage of the regular registration rates by registering prior to October 12th.  Conference fees increase on October 13th.  Our hotel room block is fillling up fast–take advantage of our group hotel rate by registering for the conference today!  You may register for the conference here.

Pre-Conference Workshops

We are pleased to offer several pre-conference workshops this year!  These workshops will take place on Wednesday November 14th at Perdido Beach Resort.  Workshop fee is $35 per person ($45 after October 12th) and lunch will be provided.  We understand it is difficult to be out of the office for three days so we do not require you to attend the fall conference in order to attend a pre-conference workshop.   Register for these workshops here.

The Pre-Conference Workshops being offered this year are:

Argos for Beginners – Presented by Ronald Franklin of Evisions

(9am – 12 noon) Topics include report Viewer – Run Operational reports (csv, extract, banded), how to interact with dashboard (drill-through charts, OLAPs), and using Argos Web Viewer, Report Writer – Create basic operational reports.

 

Argos Advanced/Technical Training – Presented by Ronald Franklin of Evisions

(1pm – 4pm) Topics include Datablock Design – Focus more on creating Dashboards (drill-through charts, OLAP), Form design tips, SQL tips, and best practices.

 

Banner 9 Finance New User Training – Presented by Felicia Roberson of Auburn University

(9am – 12 noon) Introductory class for users who are brand new to Banner Finance. Defines FOAPAL and Chart. Reviews Self Service Banner versus Banner Admin. This class is a half day session that introduces new users to Banner Finance 9 or provides helpful training tips for users on your campus.

 

Banner 9 Finance Chart of Accounts Training – Presented by Meredith Boteler of The University of Alabama

(1pm – 4pm) Introductory class for Finance users that need to set up a chart of accounts in Banner Finance. Reviews Fund Types, Account Types and other Banner Finance setup configuration. This class is a half day session that guides you through the chart of accounts set up process.

 

Ellucian Page Builder Workshop – Presented by Gideon Sanstra of Ellucian

(Full Day) Banner Extensibility provides tools for extending baseline Banner to offer institution-specific functionality that persists across upgrades without the need for traditional customizations. Get an understanding of when and how to use each of the extensibility tools, as well as a deep dive into Page Builder.

    • Administration Extensibility with Eclipse
    • Page Builder
    • Supplemental Data Engine
    • Configure Page Component Tool

  • Remote access to the participant’s home institution non-production Banner environment where Banner Extensibility v9.2 is installed

  • Banner security privileges appropriate for use with PageBuilder (see pages 6 to 8 and 44 to 52 of the Banner Extensibility 9.2 Handbook)
  • Banner security privileges to grant the required accesses to create virtual domains (e.g., the ability to grant privileges to access table level objects)
  • Banner webtailor privileges

 

You, Me, We: Building a Successful Team – Presented by Laurel Long of The University of Alabama in Huntsville

(Full Day) The purpose of this session is to help participants understand that strong teams are successful when they see differences as strengths instead of weaknesses.  Although much emphasis is placed on the ways in which we are different, this session will focus on how those differences can actually help to develop strong teams and ensure positive outcomes both personally and professionally.  Participants will explore three key areas:  personality types, generational differences, and communication styles.  Participants will understand how differences in these areas affect work teams and work performance.  They will also be able to assess their individual personality types and communication styles.  This will be in interactive session where participant discussion and involvement is encouraged.

Ellucian Page Builder Pre-Conference Workshop Added to ALBUG Conference Schedule

We are excited to announce an additional pre-conference workshop to be held during the ALBUG 2018 Fall Conference.  This workshop will cover the Ellucian Page Builder tool.  Details and pre-requisites of the workshop are listed below.

2018 Fall Conference, Ellucian Live

2018 Fall Conference

The executive team of the Alabama Banner Users Group is proud to announce the eighth annual Fall Conference will be held November 14-16, 2018 at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. Come enjoy a packed three days of learning and collaborating.

Pre-Conference Workshops
As in 2017, we plan to offer multiple pre-conference training workshops.  The topics for these training workshops have not yet been finalized, but we expect them to be day-long workshops (9am-4pm on Wednesday, November 14th) geared toward specific products and/or functional groups.  Please let us know if you have a recommendation for a specific training workshop topic.

Call for Presentations
The ongoing success of the ALBUG annual conference is greatly dependent on the session content delivered by our fellow colleagues from around the state.  If you have a session topic you would like to present OR would like to suggest a topic, please complete our Call For Proposal form on the ALBUG website.  Lead presenters on sessions approved for the conference will receive a discounted conference fee. Call for presentation proposal deadline is June 15, 2018.

We hope you’ve had a great start of the Spring 2017 semester on your campus.  It’s hard to believe we are a little over a month away from Ellucian Live in Orlando.  I don’t think snow will be in the weather forecast for ELive this year! 🙂

The ALBUG Executive Team have been hard at work preparing events the upcoming year.  While we don’t have the entire year planned, we do have some details to share with you now.
